If you do not have sterioscopic glasses look at the animation cross-eyed and then relax you eyes.
(sterioscopic glases will show the egg deep instead of projected outward as seen when viewed cross-eyed)
 Sterioscopic glasses will be included.
                                                                                            1. The animation shows an egg being released from an ovary (#3).
                                                                                            2. The egg then travels into the fallopian tube (oviduct) (#4).
                                                                                            3. About the same time, sperm enter the vagina (#1) travel into the uterus and then into the oviduct.
                                                                                            4. A sperm fertilizes the egg in the oviduct (between #3 and #4).
                                                                                            5. The fertilized egg (now called a zygote) begins to grow as it travels through the fallopian tube on its way to the uterus (#5).
                                                                                            6. In the uterus, the developing zygote implants into the uterus wall where it grows and develops as an embryo.

BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF BOOKS

1. The Living Environment- Biology Lessons. (5th Edition)
(Laminated covers, comb binding: $29.95 each

This is a unique teacher-made book. It is especially good for hard to reach students, but has separate
advanced sections for your regular groups. Research shows that connecting new information to previous
information that students are familiar with is essential for good learning. Each lesson in this book begins
with an
analogy or metaphor to give your students an understandable model that they can use as a link
to the new biology concepts being taught.

The Main Ideas, Essential Questions, Objectives, and Performance Indicators are life
savers if you are doing curriculum mapping or need to write comprehensive lesson plans
for your administrator. This book is great for any teacher with a busy schedule and
looking for something different to use in the classroom. This is my #1 seller.

2. The Living Environment- L.E.A.F. Study Guides
(Living Environment Abbreviated Facts)
(Class of 10 = $69.95; Class of 5 = $39.95)

Great for starting the beginning of each unit with the "Big Picture" (whole to parts approach).
These guides are also useful for review at the end of each unit, helping absent students catch-up, or preparing for the Regents exam.
Each student
package consists of seven, double sided L.E.A.F. Study Guides (14 pages total). For each unit, all the

"major understandings" are condensed on one side of each page for quick and easy reading (Scientific Inquiry and Ecology
use two sides). The diagrams below do not do justice to the appearance of these study guides. The pages are beautifully
colored prints, laminated for year-long protection, and are printed double sided. Each page is 3-hole punched for convenient
storage
in the student's notebook. These pages are similar to the stiff, quick review college study sheets sold in
major bookstores.

In many cases, the language used in the "Major Understandings" have been simplified for easier understanding. These pages are great
for students that
have a tough time preparing for exams. Each sheet contains the basic information required to understand each unit.
Once the students
have mastered these sheets, they will then be ready to move on to any additional information desired by the teacher.
An order
for a class of 10 includes seven, double sided pages per student for a total of 70 double sides pages (140 total pages).
This top quality product
is one that your students are sure to use and appreciate.

These pages are laminated and printed on both sides (total of 14 pages/student)

Each page is 3-hole punched and divided into sections. Each section represents a
"Major Understanding" that is written in easy to understand language and accompanied
by colorful diagrams representing the meaning of the "Major Understanding."

3. BIO-CUBICS
Class of 20 (total of 60 cubics supplying 6 cubes to each team of two students; in other words, 10 teams serves 20 students) = $24.95
Additional set of 6 cubes available at $2.50 after purchase of class of 20 (10 teams) for same topic

Capture your student's minds with these one of a kind manipulatives.
With "Bio-Cubics" there is no way your students cannot focus !
These fascinating 3 dimensional cubes will force students to read, analyze, sequence, and comprehend while rotating and
stacking these unique structures. This is active learning at its best and is perfect for cooperative group activities.
Each set has six identical cubes (1 set/ team of two). Each side contains a different picture. The pictures represent different
steps in a process that the students must learn. After you review the basic process in class, the students will be given the
cubes and asked to arrange the cubes on their desk to show the proper sequences of steps in the process being studied
(ex. steps of natural selection, mitosis, etc.). A simple walk around the room will let you immediately see misconceptions
and point out any blocks that are not sequenced correctly (for students to think about again). Eventually, they will get it
correct. You will see them debating with each other and having fun at the same time. The cubes are also an excellent way
to review each unit.
The great thing about the cubics is that they are sturdy, laminated, structures that allow you to pick them up at the end
of one class and use them over again in the next class.
One master set is all you need. In addition, each kit comes with
reproducible student worksheet
that will allow the students to record what they did and answer questions that will
further solidify their understanding. A teacher guide is also provided.

The 2013 stock cubic sets presently available are:
1. The Scientific Method
2. Life's Levels of Organization
3. Diffusion
4. DNA Synthesis
5. Protein Synthesis
6. Natural Selection
7. Intepreting Fossil Evidence
8. Mitotic Division
9. Meiotic Division
10. Hormone Feedback System
11. Immunity Antibody Reaction
12. Photosynthesis
13. Cell Respiration
14. Enzyme Reaction
15. Food Web
16. Ecological Succession
17. Biodiversity
18. Population Ecology
19. Gobal Warming
20. Invasive Species
Don't see what you want ? I will custom design sets for teachers. Just E-mail me. State the Unit (ex. Genetics, Ecology, etc.)
and the process or sequence you want designed (ex. crossing over, menstrual cycle, etc.). For one class set (ex. 60 cubics at $24.95)
I will need approximately 3 days from the date that I receive payment before shipment is possible (for larger orders I will
need up to 10 days). I charge the same price as my existing sets.

Images above show six different samples of cubes. Each team (2 students) would get 6 cubes (Ex. 6 of one of the cubes
shown above- depending on what biology process you ordered). Pictured above are cubes for the processes of DNA synthesis,
protein synthesis, levels of living organization, natural selection, diffusion, and the scientific method. Sold pre-cut (no cutting required)
and laminated. Just fold and tape. Note that as of 2/14/12 the background color on the cubics will be white (images will still be colored).

Two copies of a reproducible student worksheet and one teacher guide comes with each cubic activity.

11. BIO-BAGGIE ACTIVITIES
(1 package containing 5 baggie activities on same topic = $34.95)

The Bio-Baggie Activities are self-contained, hands-on, manipulative-based lessons.
The activities involve mini-simulation labs, model building, and games that simulate and/or demonstrate biology structures
and/or processes such as diffusion, evolution, DNA replication, etc. Each activity comes in a zip lock baggie that contains all
the equipment needed for a team of two students. Also included in the baggie are laminated instructions and a re-usable,
laminated data page* with a water soluble flow pen*. A separate master conclusion page, additional master data page,
and teacher answer key/guide are provided.

These activities are meant to be used as short, hands-on, introductions to major concepts. Most of the activities should take
only 15-25 minutes to complete. The activities are re-usable as you proceed from one class to the next. Just have the
students return everything to the baggie and they are ready for the next class. These are great time savers. They are also
perfect for students that have missed class. All you need to do is hand them a baggie and they are ready to go. One package
contains 5 baggie activities/topic that can be used for 5 pairs of students (10 students).

Three baggie topics are presently available. More activities will be available in the future. Descriptions of the activities
presently available include:
*(only mini-simulation labs come with a Data page and flow pen)

1. DIFFUSION. Students will simulate kinetic energy, random motion, membrane selectivity, different molecular
concentrations, and demonstrate how these processes relate to diffusion (see photo below).
Ex. Diffusion Baggie package contains 5 labs like the one shown above
(plus separate master conclusion page, additional master data page, and teacher answer key/guide)

2. DNA, GENES, CHROMATIN, AND CHROMOSOMES. Students will create "histone-DNA" models to demonstrate the
relationship between DNA, genes, chromatin, and chromosomes. Students will also demonstrate the histone difference
between active chromatin (with genes "on") and non-active chromatin (with genes "off") . Finally, this activity is a great
way to show how and why chromatin condenses back and forth between chromosomes and "loose" chromatin strands in
the nucelus.

3. CELL MODEL. Each student team will create a cell, using plastic organelles, based on a chart that describes what each
organelle looks like. The team will then place the organelle over a specified (numbered) location on a laminated outline of a
cell. Teachers can roam the room to see if each student team was successful. A question page is included that will require
the student to read a description of how cystic fibrosis results from problems at the cellular level. Based on what they read,
the team will then assign a function to each organelle that is part of the model.

Ex. The Cell Model Baggie package contains 10 hard plastic organelles (very tough and about the thicknes of a quarter) like
those shown above. The plastic parts include the mitochondria, lysosome, vacuole, free ribosomes, nucleus (with nucleolus),
golgi apparatus, cell membrane, centrioles, rough endoplasmic reticulum, and smooth endoplasmic reticulum.
The yellow cell body (approximately 6"x7") is laminated.

Sometimes even the best lessons do not always produce the desirable exam outcomes we anticipated. Very often students seem to be performing marvelously in class, but fail to perform as well as you (or they) anticipated. This may be especially true for the year end final exam. These research based kits address this issue and may be the solution on how to increase your student's test scores.
-
The kits are based on a modified version of the Spaced Learning approach of R. Douglas Fields (2005, Scientific American) and others.  The Spaced Learning approach starts with a PowerPoint, then uses two lessons that requires students to arrange cards into definitions and picture sequences that illustrate the concepts.
Interspaced betwen these lessons are strategic 10 minute"Rests" that allow the brain to process what was taught and begin the long term storage process needed for effective recall.  This includes forming new neural pathways and changes at nerve synapses.  The kits are meant to serve as a solid scaffold on which to build your regular lessons. Primary research references, with web site addresses, are included in each kit. The Bio-Logic Cards are the size of busines cards (2"x 3.5"). Card colors may be substituted for other colors based on paper availability.

In research by Paul Kelly and Terry Whatson, data showed that Spaced Learning could accomplash as much in one hour as can be accomplish in four months using standard teaching. According to the research by Kelly and Whatson,

"Spaced Learning in this form was used as the only means of instruction for a national curriculum Biology course (England), and led to very rapid LTM (Long Term Memory) encoding as measured by the high-stakes test for the course. Remarkably, learning at a greatly increased speed and in a pattern that included deliberate distraction (10 minute breaks) produced significantly higher scores than random answers (p < 0.00001) and scores were not significantly different for experimental groups (one hour spaced learning) and control groups (four months teaching). Thus learning per hour (my emphasis) of instruction, as measured by the test, was significantly higher for the spaced learning groups (p < 0.00001). In a third condition, spaced learning was used to replace the end of course review for one of two examinations. Results showed significantly higher outcomes for the course using spaced learning (p < 0.0005). 1"

In addition to the use of Spaced Learning, information will be provided on how to use Retrieval Practice to further help improve long term recall of learned material for unit tests and final exams.

Three kits are presently available

14. CHECKOUT

(Please read , then click either A or B below)

In the near future, books from this site may also be purchased on amazon.com.
I will post more information (date) when this opportunity becomes available.

Orders made within N. Y. State must include tax since my business is located in N.Y. State. The sales tax is applied to
items purchase and to S/H. For example, let's assume your county's sales tax is 8% and you purchase a $30 item.
Item ($30) + 10% S/H ($3) = $33 subtotal.  Assuming an 8% tax, then 8% x $33 = $2.64 tax.  Total = $30 + $3 + $2.64 = $35.64.
I send all orders Delivery Confirmation (no extra charge). Please fill-in the shipping information carefully (ex. address, items, etc.).
If merchandise is damaged during delivery by USPS (I take special care using bubble packaging), buyer must pay shipping to
return merchandise. I will pay shipping to send out replacement merchandise (I suggest you first try to get payment from
USPS if outer package is damaged). A Priority Mail option is available for an additional $6.00 (added to the 10% for
standard shipping and handling).  The $6.00 Priority Mail option is free for orders of $100 or more (excluding tax and S/H).
This means you pay S/H @ 10%, but your order is shipped Priority Mail instead of standard mail.
  I make every effort to
ship your merchandise as soon as possible (usually 1-2 days), but rare circumstances may warrant a longer time period
(you may request an estimate prior to making your order. After an order is made, I E-mail the customer with an estimate of
when I expect to ship their merchandise. Please note that the USPS does not guarantee 1-3 day Priority Mail delivery (according
to them, almost all do make it in 1-3 days), therefore, I will not take responsibility for Priority Mail deliveries made
by the USPS that exceed their 3 day shipment estimate. I ship orders only within the 48 continental States in the U.S.A.
(not to Alaska or Hawaii). I do not ship to countries outside the U.S.A.  I will always try to help you in resolving any
shipping issues.
